Design & Implementation

The proper design of the network is vital to the success of the project. The ultimate goal is to have a network that will attach to the Wide Area Network of the vendor that the facility, purchasing the system, will choose for their Hospital Information System. The people at NSG will Provide a complete proposal encompassing all the needs of the facility, ensures compliance with federal and state requirements, and will ensure that the network is viable and functional for years to come. Each component is designed to provide superior performance, long life, and the ability to be upgraded at a later date in so needed.


Cabling

NSG will install Category 5 UTP cable in each office, install fiber optic cabling between floors and to outlying buildings. All cabling will be certified using current methodology approved by EIA/TIA. All termination’s will be 568B EIA/TIA. Patch panels and racks will be provided on each floor and in each building. Deliverables will be certified 100mb UTP Ethernet. The cabling infrastructure is configured to meet exacting industry standards and provide a backbone for future increased traffic & speeds the facilities’ needs are also increased. Drawings and documentation for the cabling will be provided upon completion. All cabling will be Belkin Cat 5 Plenum certified 24 AWG UTP, this cable exceeds the highest standards in the industry, and carries our standard seven-year warranty.


LAN Equipment(Monthly Support)

The Local Area Network is designed to meet the IEEE 802.3 standards for Ethernet. The Local Area Network will be designed to meet the exacting needs and traffic volumes that the facility defines. The network is configured to operate at 100 MBPS on each terminating node. The network has been designed to take advantage of the industries push to faster traffic speeds and away from the slower 10 MBPS.


Server Array(Monthly Support)

The Network Operating System will be NT 4.0. Installation and configuration of the NT 4.0 will be by a Microsoft Certified Engineer. The server array will be four Compaq 3000 servers with two 9.2 gigabyte hard drives and six 4.2 gigabyte, 10,000-rpm hard drives. Each server will also have 512 megabytes of RAM. A matrix UPS and virus protection software will protect the server array. The server array will be backed up to a 12/20-gigabyte tape drive, and will be rack mounted in a Compaq Net Shelter. The array will take an area three feet wide and six feet high, and will include a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and auto-switch for servers. This configuration will support up to three hundred users and one hundred TCP/IP printers.


Proxy Server(monthly Support)

The Proxy Server will allow internet access to anyone on the Local Area Network. The real strength in the server will be the allowance of multiple users to access the internet from one account. By using the proxy server, security across the internet is guaranteed.


Email Server(Monthly Support) (Additional Users)

Email will be provided for up to 300 mail accounts. Microsoft Exchange Server will be the platform, and a Microsoft certified engineer will perform the configuration and installation. The server will be a Compaq 3000 properly equipped for 300 users. The Exchange server provides more than an email platform, it also provides for GroupWare applications. Additional information will be provided upon request.


Remote Management Package

Network Solutions Group is a leader in the remote support and monitoring of LAN systems. Support services can be provided on numerous levels. The remote management of the LAN provides professional support and the technical staff of Network Solutions Group will monitor all activity on the network, and also will provide detailed reports including recommendations for maintenance, optimization, and adherence to the applicable governmental regulations.


Code Blue Services

Code Blue Services assures that a technician is onsite within seven hours of the call being received by our support team. Our Code Blue Service guarantees that Network Solutions Group will have the spare parts on hand to replace any failures in the system when the technician arrives. There is no waiting for delivery, from the time the call is placed to our support team, the system will be up and running in within 24 hours, no excuses no exceptions. The fee for the Code Blue services are double the standard monthly support fees for any service and/or application chosen.
